Hi, I’m Barb Bloom, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I specialize in working with young adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, identity, relationships, and the meaning of it all.  I also work with women who are navigating mid-life transitions -divorce, empty nest, and retirement - and finding new purpose.

My clients appreciate the safe and comfortable atmosphere where they can heal from childhood trauma, gain a new perspective, feel connected, build confidence, learn practical skills, and change unhealthy patterns.

I am LGBTQ+ affirming.

My approach is psychodynamic with a trauma informed lens.  For me, therapy is a unique relationship with clients looking to heal.

What to Expect in Your First Therapy Session

Starting therapy can feel uncomfortable at first. You’re sitting with someone you’ve never met, and they’re asking about things that may be difficult to talk about. That’s completely normal.

My role is to help you feel safe, to be someone you can trust with the hard stuff.

Here's what the first session might look like:

  • Check in to make sure you're OK

  • Chat about things that interest you

  • Review your intake paperwork

  • Answer any questions you may have

  • Begin talking about what brings you to therapy

In my experience, it often takes a few sessions—around 3 to 4—to build the trust necessary to share deeply. There’s no pressure to share everything right away. If you think you are ready, let's meet!
